TapeMemories ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Ziptar Labs LLC. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our VHS digitization and indexing service.

Information We Collect

Account Information: Name and email address when you start a collection.

Phone Number: If you provide a mobile number (e.g., for account verification, as an invite contact, or when requesting an invite to a shared collection), we collect and store it to send you transactional text messages.

Tape Content: The tape files you upload for processing.

Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.

Usage Data: Basic analytics about how you use the service (pages visited, features used).

How We Use Your Information

  • Process your tape files using AI (scene detection and transcription)
  • Send you emails about your collection status and Memory Gallery access
  • Send you transactional text messages (e.g., verification codes, "Memory Gallery ready" alerts, invite-request notifications, one-time access codes for shared collections, and invite-approved confirmations) when you have provided a phone number
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Improve our service

Your Tapes

We do not:

  • Share your tapes with third parties
  • Use your tapes to train AI models
  • Sell or monetize your content in any way
  • Access your tapes except to process them

Your tapes are stored in secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and are only accessible via your private collection token.

Data Retention

We retain your tapes and processed data for 120 days after your last activity. After this period, your data may be automatically deleted. Paid customers can request extended retention.

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate:

  • Cloudflare R2: Tape and file storage
  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • ZeptoMail: Transactional emails
  • Twilio: Transactional SMS delivery (A2P 10DLC compliant). Twilio processes your phone number and message content to deliver texts; see Twilio's privacy policy for details.

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their handling of data.

Your Rights

We do not sell or share your personal information.

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data

If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, please note that our service is operated from the United States and is primarily intended for US residents.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure cloud storage, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on our website.
